Sculptra Aesthetic
Collagen Stimulating Filler
Winston Salem Dermatology & Surgery Center is now offering a facial wrinkle and folds treatment known as Sculptra Aesthetic. Sculptra Aesthetic is used to correct all shallow to deep facial folds and wrinkles with the appropriate injection techniques.
Sculptra Aesthetic is Suitable for Several Conditions
Sculptra Aesthetic is a facial injection that is created to work gradually over time through a series of treatments. On average, three sessions over a span of several months will help you to obtain your desired results.
- Deep folds located between the nose and mouth. These are Nasolabial folds but are also known as smile lines.
- Marionette lines – the lines that frame your mouth.
- Chin wrinkles.
Sculptra Aesthetic Helps to Reduce Facial Aging
This source of treatment is used to target the underlying causes of facial aging, no matter what they may be. The results are more than noticeable after just a few sessions and can last for more than two years. After being injected, the medicine will begin its work within the deep dermis, reinforcing your skin’s structure by replacing any lost collagen. This reinforced structure will provide a foundation that helps to restore the fullness of your face, depleting any facial wrinkles and folds over time.
What is the Sculptra Aesthetic Treatment?
Sculptra is a dermal filler that has been a treatment option since 1999; however, it was approved in 2004 by the FDA to treat lipoatrophy in people with HIV. In 2014, it was approved that Sculptra Aesthetic could be used to treat facial wrinkles and facial folds to help give patients a more natural, youthful appearance.
Its main ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid, also known as PLLA. It is classified as a collagen stimulator that provides a long-lasting, natural-looking result that can last for up to two years at a time. It’s a safe and effective course of treatment for patients who wish to have a youthful appearance; however, it’s not recommended for people who are allergic to its ingredients.
How Does This Treatment Work?
When you choose to be treated with Sculptra Aesthetic, you will first need to have an initial consultation with your skin specialist. They will ask you to complete a full medical history, which will include all medical conditions and allergies.
During your first treatment, your physician will map the injection sites on your skin and start by cleansing the area thoroughly. Topical anesthetic will be applied to numb your skin, minimizing any discomfort. The Sculptra will then be injected into your skin wherever required. If there are any special instructions required after surgery, your skin specialist will inform you of those after the procedure.

How to Know if You’re a Good Candidate for Sculptra
Ideal patients for the Sculptra Aesthetic treatment plan range in ages from late 20’s to early 80’s; however, most patients who opt for this procedure are in their 40’s or 50’s. Similar to most treatment plans for your skin, the earlier you start the plan, the easier it is to maintain your natural results. And before you start to ask, this isn’t just for female patients. There are several male patients who are starting to jump on this bandwagon as well!
It is recommended that you have a healthy immune system for this type of procedure, ensuring you can continue to fight off any chance of infection. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, it is highly recommended that you speak with your physician before starting the treatment plan.
Targeted Areas for Sculptra Aesthetic
As mentioned before, Sculptra is specifically used to diminish any wrinkles and folds in the face, as well as any smile lines or chin lines. But there are several other ways this type of treatment can be used effectively, including those we’ve listed below.
- Nonsurgical Butt Lift or Augmentation
- Cellulite Correction
- Wrinkle Correction in Chest, Elbows, and Knees
If you’re looking to bulk up your appearance, this has also been a popular treatment for adding extra muscle mass to the glutes, thighs, triceps, biceps, and pectorals. This is not a suitable treatment for the eyes or lips.
What Results Can You Expect?
If you’ve made the decision to correct any facial aging with our Sculptra Aesthetic treatment option, you’ve made the right choice. With this type of procedure, you can expect your desired results over just a few sessions, lasting up to two years. You can expect that Sculptra will gradually work overtime to replace any lost collagen in the face, which is often the key cause to facial wrinkles, lines, and folds. The best part is you usually only need 3 injections over the course of a few months to get your desired results.
How Much Does Sculptra Aesthetic Cost?
There are several factors that will need to be taken into consideration before the cost of your Sculptra treatments can be determined. These include the amount of correction needed for your desired results, the number of treatments required, your location, the number of Sculptra vials being used, and if there are any special offers provided by your skincare specialist. In 2016, the average cost of a Sculptra Aesthetic vial was $773, the average total cost ranging anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500.
